چکیده

Abstract Background and Objectives Conventional hemodialysis (HD) for kidney failure patients with severe hyponatremia may be complicated by rapid correction of hyponatremia, which increases the risk osmotic demyelination syndrome. A simple sodium kinetic equation was effective in prediction end-dialysis serum Na + severely hyponatremic patient treated continuous venovenous hemofiltration, but not tested conventional HD. The aim this study to assess validity when used Methods Twenty HD sessions were delivered 12 (serum < 120 mEq/L). target change 4 mEq/L. D .t/V that obtained predetermined according monitored real time online clearance monitoring software embedded dialysis machine. session terminated once achieved. Results mean observed predicted 119.80 ± 3.42 mEq/L 119.45 3.12 mEq/L, respectively. Bland–Altman plot analysis revealed a difference SD 0.33 1.26 95% limits agreement − 2.13 2.83. imprecision 2.52 small clinically insignificant indicate good between . Conclusion hyponatremia.

Dialysate sodium, serum sodium and mortality in maintenance hemodialysis.

BACKGROUND Individuals with end-stage kidney disease appear to have stable pre-dialysis serum sodium concentrations over time, with lower values associating with increased mortality. Dialysate sodium concentrations have increased over many years in response to shorter treatments, but the relationship between serum sodium, dialysate sodium and outcomes in chronic hemodialysis patients has not ye...

Correction of serum sodium for glucose concentration in hemodialysis patients with poor glucose control.

A s a rule of thumb in clinical medicine, the serum sodium concentration decreases by 1.6 mEq/l for every 100 mg/dl increase in glucose concentration due to water shifts from the intracellular to the extracellular compartment (1). This correction factor is based on theoretical considerations and has not been well validated. An experimental study in healthy subjects found significantly greater d...

Tumor Markers in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis and Kidney Transplantation

Objective: To evaluate the effect of dialysis and kidney transplantation on serum levels of several tumor markers such as PSA, AFP, CA125, CA19- 9, CA15-3, CEA and to compare with normal age matched controls. Methods: Between September of 2000 and July of 2001, the following tumor markers: PSA, AFP, CA125, CA19-9, CA15-3 and CEA were measured by ELISA Method in 29 hemodialyzed patients (group A...

[Echocardiographic alterations in patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis].

Changes in cardiac structure and function detected by echocardiography are common in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis, and have been recognized as key outcome predictors. This review attempts to summarize recent evidence pointing to the usefulness of the method in the detection of clinical and subclinical cardiac dysfunction, stratification of cardiovascular risk and...
